BUDDE is a German design studio, founded in 2020 and led by Architect Johannes Budde and Meike Papenfuss.

As a strong duo, Johannes is the creative mind behind BUDDE, complemented by the business and brand expertise of Meike.

Arising from the field of architecture, the studio’s work stretches across typologies such as furniture, interior objects and lighting – combining exclusive collectible designs as well as scalable designs intended for the commercial market.

In 2024, the studio is temporarily based in Milan.

Driven by a courageous spirit, BUDDE seeks to introduce meaningful designs that provide a new take on a quotidian object. The studio’s practice is characterized by eliminating excess and relying on essential forms. Purposeful details and intuitive functionality are paired with a commitment to outstanding quality and longevity.

The collectible objects are often hand-crafted, available in limited quantities and represented by internationally renowned galleries such as Rossana Orlandi gallery in Milan, Mint gallery in London, nomadic gallery Stéphanie Frederickx in Belgium or Galerie Philia with global presence.

BUDDE increasingly collaborates with global furniture brands such as mogg from Italy, Spinder Design from the Netherlands, Metallbude from Germany or We Do Wood from Denmark who trust the studio to create recognizable, long-lasting collections together.
