Retail space, Shanghai

Client: doz.IOIII PROJECT(S)

BUDDE designed a 500 m² high-end furniture showroom including a café in central Shanghai, China. Commissioned by doz.IOIII PROJECT(S), a premium retailer of European design brands including Zanotta, Acerbis, and Secolo, the space translates BUDDE’s signature approach into a fully immersive spatial experience.

The ground floor (approx. 300 m²) is conceived as a sequence of emotional environments. BUDDE curated four distinct, tone-in-tone zones that guide visitors through shifting atmospheres. The spatial experience transitions from a light, inviting entrance into increasingly saturated and intimate settings. The exhibition also integrates BUDDE’s own works, including a limited edition of their handcrafted RUG’N ROLL concrete stools and the PIANO washbasin, designed for Serafini.

In contrast, the upper floor (approx. 100 m² interior + 100 m² terrace), introduces a more playful and exploratory concept. Set within a calm off-white architectural shell, a vibrant mix of furniture and objects unfolds in a collage-like composition. The space is exclusively furnished with Zanotta pieces, complemented by selected accessories from brands such as Karakter and Completedworks. At its center, a sculptural coffee bar – formed as a droplet and partially enclosed by curved yellow acrylic glass – serves as both functional divider and visual centerpiece.

Located along Suzhou Creek within a rapidly emerging lifestyle district, the newly built two-story house of doz.IOIII PROJECT(S) extends a historic warehouse and sits alongside leading international companies such as Vitra, BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, NOMOS Glashütte, and cultural institutions including Fotografiska.
